ARcare PGY1 Community-Based and PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency Programs
The PGY1 Community-Based and PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency Programs at ARcare are twelve-month, full-time practice commitments that will focus on developing pharmacists as leaders within the profession with an emphasis on the role of pharmacy in community health centers.
PGY1 Community-Based Program Purpose
The ARcare PGY1 Community-Based Residency Program seeks to build upon the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop community-based pharmacist practitioners with diverse patient care, leadership, and education skills who are eligible to pursue advanced training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies and professional certifications.
PGY2 Ambulatory Care Program Purpose
The ARcare PGY2 pharmacy residency program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available.
